On March 17, 2025, for the first time in its history, the Texas Senate passed a resolution honoring the significance Hindu holiday of Holi.
Coming a few days after the holiday itself in 2025, which took place on March 14th, TX SR 267 reads in part,
“The celebration of Holi is a vibrant expression of the cultural heritage and traditions that serve to strengthen and connect the many diverse cultures and communities that make up the unique fabric of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it resolved that the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th Legislature, hereby extend to all participating in the festivities of Holi best wishes for a rewarding and joyous celebration.”
Sponsoring the resolution were senators Eckhardt, Alvarado, Cook, Hinojosa, Johnson, Menéndez, Miles, and West.
