In response to recent reports of inter-communal violence in Guyana, HAF national team member Fred Stella, who has conducted fact-finding missions in the Caribbean nation, made the following statement:
“We strongly condemn the senseless killings and urge both sides to reduce tensions before there is further violence. As a human rights organization, HAF also calls on the Guyanese government to conduct a thorough, swift, and transparent investigation so that the perpetrators can be brought to justice in full compliance with Guyanese law. We urge the people of Guyana to come together in this critical time and to work together for the betterment of their people and country.”
