From March 14-17 India’s Ministry of Culture and the Raja Yoga organization Heartfulness hosted upwards of 50,000 people at an event described as a “Global World Peace Mahotsav (Celebration): From Inner Peace to World Peace.”
Among the list of invited presenters included Fred Stella, member of HAF’s National Leadership Council. Fred addressed one of the plenary sessions, just before Indian Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankar offered his remarks. The theme of Fred’s talk was “A State of the State of Hindus in America.” He also presented at 2 breakout sessions that explored spirituality and ecology.
Over this multi-day gathering dozens of respected religious leaders of various religions shared the wisdom of their traditions in hopes of inciting a movement toward pluralism and mutual respect for spiritual diversity.
This auspicious event was held just outside of Hyderabad in the intentional community of Kanha Shanti Vanam, which was created for Heartfulness devotees. It is seen as a modern day ecological miracle of sorts. Under the direction of Daaji, the current guru of the Heartfulness movement, several hundred acres of pure desert have been transformed into a genuine rainforest, along with a small, functioning city where people live and work.
